about atreu band

In 2002, a band called Atreyu exploded out of Orange County. Previously unknown to the rest of the world, the band released their stunning debut album, Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses, grabbing the attention of a wide spectrum of music fans by demolishing the barriers between rock, melodic hardcore, and metal. The band's original, unique music hit like a lightning bolt in hard-music circles, energizing audiences and redefining the hardcore sound Southern California was known for. Atreyu hit the road, and within a year were headlining their "Bitter, Broken, Bound And Gagged" tour to sold-out rooms across North America. Critical raves poured in from publications like the Los Angeles Times, Guitar World, and Metal Maniacs, who commented, "The Southern California five-piece brings new definition to overnight success." Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses has scanned 90,000 units and shows no signs of slowing down.
With their new album, The Curse, Atreyu have honed their personal style even more, exceeding all expectations and expanding the boundaries of metallic rock yet again.
Atreyu headed home in late-2003 to write and record their second album, The Curse. The cathartic process transformed the band. Vocalist Alex Varkatzis explains: "We were in the van for two years, and it seemed like every time we left home, there would be a crisis with someone close to us, and there was nothing we could do to help. Eventually the van becomes like an isolation chamber in which we internalized every trauma or negative experience. When we came home and starting writing the album, everything came pouring out, with the intensity of something new. It was really cleansing."
However, the band's torrent of honesty and emotion resulted in one casualty: bassist Chris Thomson left the band, to be replaced by Marc McKnight, an old friend of the group. Atreyu's lineup is completed with guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miquel and drummer Brandon Saller.
"We are so fanatical when it comes to our music, that we demo-ed every song and put them in the sequence that they appear on the album before we even chose a producer," recounts Alex. And upon choosing, GGGarth, famous for his work with bands like Rage Against The Machine, Kittie, and Testament, was chosen to produce the album because his sincerity and excitement about Atreyu outstripped any of the other candidates.
"Garth really believed in us and after he heard the demos, he really wanted to help us realize our vision," Alex says. "When we got to the studio we were amazed. His ideas for the record were exactly the same as ours! He also has a killer studio and the technical capability to get the sound we were looking for."
The Curse explores themes of isolation and paranoia, memory, and immortality as well as power and potency. Songs like "The Crimson explore vampiric immortality, while "The Remembrance Ballad" is a meditation on the brevity of life. "A lot has happened in the past two years, and I started realizing that I will die, and that I can't control it, so I started thinking about my choices while I am living this life, and on trying to break everything down and build back up into a person I can be proud of," Alex explains.
"My Sanity On The Funeral Pyre" explores the harsh battle between paranoia and peace of mind, in stark contrast with "You Eclipsed By Me," a howling roar of determination and strength of will in the face of adversity. "Right Side Of The Bed" reigns as one of the most personal songs on the album, according to Alex. "There is so much contrast in the song," he says. "It's a total rock song, but the lyrics reflect pure pain for me--regret and misery aren't usually presented in that context, but it just worked well for us."
With The Curse, Atreyu are poised to reach a huge audience and captivate them with their genre-bending metallic rock. Their dynamic guitar assault combines brilliant single-note leads and pummeling power chords, offset by the melodic and guttural vocals. "We blend it to make a prettier dark picture," Alex comments. Atreyu made waves in the music world with their debut, catching fans off guard with their original style, but the story is just beginning. With The Curse comes world domination.

Bursting from the realm of Music City Bristol are Experimental Pop Band - an eclectic fusion of intelligent pop mixed with strumming guitars, cool samples, soulful jazzy moments and beats. Experimental Pop Band were formed in 1995 initially as a studio project involving Davey Woodward (vocals, guitar, samples), Chris Galvin (bass) and Corin. They released a number of Eps and their debut album 'Discgrotesque' in 1996 and 1997 on Swarf Finger Records. Music press from across the board fancied them as "skewed boho-pop", "world-weary", "bookworms, eclectic, strum'n'bass vs beats vs indie shuffle vs European god knows what. Pop music for people who are bored with pop music!." The achieved Single Of The Week and Pick Of The Week in Melody Maker in consecutive issues in August 1996 with 'Boutique In My Backyard'. 1998 saw the EPB hone the songs that you can hear on their second album 'Homesick'. They also left Swarf Finger and released one single (the terrific '40 Greatest Hits') on the now defunct Cup Of Tea. 1998 proved a very difficult year for the band both personally and professionally, as Chris was terminally ill. He died in December. EPB's relationship with Cup Of Tea was dissolved in early 1999. Experimental Pop Band have always been as serious as they have been playful. The name - which was actually never meant to mean much, honest - says plenty about them, but is possibly misleading, since the emphasis was always meant to be on the pop side of their nature. Maybe that's why, for all the talk, they haven't quite received the acclaim they deserved. People never quite knew how to take them. Or maybe it's because they never achieved quite what they set out to do. Whatever, it all means little now. With The Tracksuit Trilogy ,Experimental Pop Band are finally up and running. Produced on all but two tracks by John Parish, Experimental Pop Band have finally found the balance between their diverse influences, and when we say diverse, we mean diverse. From Bacharach to Beck, from The Velvet Underground to the boogie wonderland, EPB throw it all in and mix it all up.

A pianist is a person who plays the piano. A professional pianist can perform solo pieces, play with an ensemble or orchestra, or accompany one or more singers, solo instrumentalists, or other performers.
A performing classical pianist usually starts playing piano at a very young age, some as early as three years old. Many well-known classical composers were also virtuoso pianists: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Carl Maria von Weber, Charles-Valentin Alkan, Johannes Brahms, Ferruccio Busoni, Ervin Nyíregyházi, Anton Rubinstein, Alexander Scriabin, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich.
Most western forms of music can make use of the piano. Consequently, pianists have a wide variety of repertoire and styles to choose from, including jazz, classical music, and all sorts of popular music.

Vocal music is music performed by one or more singers, with or without non-vocal instrumental accompaniment, in which singing provides the main focus of the piece. Music which employs singing but does not feature it prominently is generally considered instrumental music (e.g. the wordless women's choir in the final movement of Holst's The Planets) as is music without singing. Music without any non-vocal instrumental accompaniment is referred to as a cappella.
Vocal music typically features sung words called lyrics, although there are notable examples of vocal music that are performed using non-linguistic syllables or noises, sometimes as musical onomatopoeia. A short piece of vocal music with lyrics is broadly termed a song.
Vocal music is probably the oldest form of music, since it does not require any instrument besides the human voice. All musical cultures have some form of vocal music.

DRUMER

A drummer is a musician who plays the drums, particularly the drum kit, marching percussion, or hand drums or cow bell.
The term percussionist means a player on any percussion instrument, but usually refers to a person who plays classical or Latin percussion. Ideally, a studio drummer is a drummer who can play well in any musical genre (or combination of genres) asked of him or her. In the studio, a drummer will often be given a sheet of music to read with one or two words describing the style. From this basic information, an accomplished drummer will understand the groove and feel of the song. Some of today's most famous studio drummers are renowned for their ability to adapt to any style of music.

Drummers in the military
Before motorized transport became widespread, drummers played a key role in military conflicts. The drum cadences provided set a steady marching pace, better than often accompanying wind instruments such as flutes (signal instruments such as bugles have another primary function), and kept up the troops' morale on the battlefield. Military drummers were also employed on the parade field, when troops passed in review, and in various ceremonies including ominous drum rolls accompanying disciplinary punishments. In some cases drummers had the duty of administering those punishments.
Drummers are no longer employed in battle, but their ceremonial duties continue. Typically the buglers and drummers belonging to the companies (which often have one of each) are massed under the sergeant-drummer and on the march play alternately with the band of a regiment or battalion.
Even more than in Europe (and its (ex-)colonies), military music was a well-established tradition in the Orient. When Emir Osman I was appointed commander of the Turkish army on the Byzantine border in the late 13th century, he was symbolically installed by the handover of musical instruments by the Seldjuk sultan. In the Ottoman Empire, the size of the military band reflected the rank of the commander in chief: the largest were reserved for the Sultan (viz. his Grand Vizier when taking the field). It included various percussion instruments, which also became generally adopted in European military music (as 'Janissary music' though until then it was never specifically associated with those Turkish troops) after the failed siege of Vienna which started a general Turkish fashion. The pitched bass drum is still known in some languages as the Turkish Drum. Alternatively, in old english Tabert is champion of the people, or great leader, i.e. a great drummer.
